Pitmaster River Wuest

River Wuest is a Perth based BBQ enthusiast with a huge passion for smoking meat and barbecue cooking.


Over the years, Riv has spent countless weekends behind a smoker learning, experimenting and creating unique BBQ cooks and over-the-top barbecue creations.


Alongside creating BBQ content online, Riv also competes in BBQ competitions. Riv has also been featured on the Under Seasoned BBQ Show for his creative barbecue content and cooking style.


Riv specialises in low and slow smoking, creating approachable barbecue that people can recreate at home while still delivering big flavours and a relaxed cooking style.


Now bringing his passion to Hot Things BBQ School, River is eager to share his experience with fellow BBQ lovers, helping them refine their skills and master the art of live-fire cooking.

Pitmaster Stephen Adams

Stephen Adams, has turned his passion for barbecue into a thriving journey of competition, community, and education. What began as a love for outdoor cooking and entertaining quickly evolved into a deep dive into the world of competition BBQ.


Five years ago, Stephen took his first barbecue class, just like many of his students today before stepping up to the KCBS-sanctioned Master Series. Since then, his team has become a dominant force in the competition scene, earning multiple first and second-place awards across all protein categories. The pinnacle of their success came in October 2022, when they were crowned Reserve Grand Champions at Brew N Que. And most recently, on 26 April 2025, Stephen and his team took out Grand Champion at the KCBS Smokin’ in the Valley competition, also winning first place in Brisket a true mark of excellence in the barbecue world.


A respected figure in the West Australian BBQ scene, Stephen is all about sharing the love of barbecue, fostering a strong BBQ community, and helping others master the craft. Whether it's low & slow smoking or grilling up a feast, his experience, knowledge, and passion make him an invaluable teacher for those looking to take their skills to the next level.
